Whenever I’m out with Robin, carrying her in sling or pushing her around in her stroller, a lot of times, I get asked “You don’t have a yaya (nanny)?”. When I say no, I get responses like “Why? You can’t find one?” or “Oh, do you want me to help you find one?”. I even get the occasional “Kawawa ka naman. (Poor you.)”
I’m sure most people mean well and it does seem a bit odd in our culture wherein it’s a common thing, but, it does get a bit tiring to repeatedly answer that I actually choose not to have one. *GASP!*
The husband and I had our little ninja dedicated this June. For those who are not familiar with this, it’s the Christian equivalent to the Roman Catholic’s christening. Being the practical dude that he is, the husband also decided to make it a joint celebration since he was turning a year older this month, as well.
The easy route was to go with a ninja theme but I didn’t want to have it played out so early since my baby shower was already celebrated this way. See the awesome kunoichi (female ninja) baby shower invite that my cousin made here.
We named our little girl Robin – You know, Batman & ______. Duh. For those not in the know, the first Robin, aka Dick Grayson, originally came from a circus. Hence, the theme. I chose red & aqua for the color motif since they are bright, fun & lively. *Fun fact: Robin also means “bright” in German.
